Politics…I can’t stop thinking about what is happening to our country. I’m usually proud to be American and I hate to sound so glum, but I don’t want to hang my flag anymore. I will put it out for only four days a year for the next four years: Veteran’s day, Memorial day, Labor day, and September 11th.
I’ve been keeping up with the news much more now that ever before. The top headlines on Drudge Report are:
“Obama to use executive orders for immediate impact”
“Federal Reserve refused to identify $2 trillion of bank loans”
“Plans for national holiday honoring obama”
“Gorbachev calls on Obama to carry out ‘perestroika’ in the US”
Yikes! At least there is ONE decent headline “Agenda disappears from Obama website.” This is in regards to change.gov website, which has been seriously watered down since Wednesday morning. If you want to see some of it’s original content, Michelle Malkin had a good post about it a few days ago. Is Obama listening? Does he see that we don’t want a USSA (United Socialist States of America)? I doubt it, but at least he is not so blatantly SOCIALIST. Maybe we won’t have to chant “heil Obama” afterall.

I’m always proud to be an American and I intend to fly my flag every day. I’m not going to allow these people to get me down. 58 million people did not vote for Obama. We can’t all be wrong. This will be just like the Carter years and we survived them. During the Carter years we had gas rationing (you could only get gas on certain days of the week depending on the odd or even number of your license plate), double digit unemployment rates, and car loan interest rates were 17% and house loans were 13% and that is if you had good credit. People were so fed up that Reagan won by a landslide. History repeats itself.
By the way, it was because of Carter that we have the problem with Iran. He helped to send the Shaw of Iran (who was pro-western) into exile and to put the Ayatollah Kohmeni in power who wanted to rule the country by Islamic law.
It was also Carter that started the Community Reinvestment Act which was the beginning of the problem that ended with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac problem.
Comment by Theresa 11 November 2008 @ 8:22 pmI’m just not feeling so patriotic these days. In some ways we hope history will repeat itself, but you also mention that the Carter administration is still negatively affecting us (Iran and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac). I hope Obama doesn’t make big mistakes that continue to affect us in 20 years.
Comment by susanna456 11 November 2008 @ 10:03 pmUnfortunately some mistakes are long lasting, but I’m not about to give up. This is still the best country in the world. We are blessed.
