For a long time, I thought Vermont was the only source of good maple syrup, but I have recently found fantastic syrup here! Juliana and Emma are taking classes at the Cincy Nature Center, so we’ve been able to see the entire maple syrup making process! We tasted the sap, poured buckets into a barrel and then watched it boil, and tasted again.

We had pancakes with syrup for lunch today and finished almost half the bottle….and it’s $10.95 per bottle! Expensive, but delicious!

Emma says “Juliana!”
Juliana singing in front of the tv.
And singing without the tv, forgeting the words.

We are lucky to have great neighbors next door and across the street, as for the others….well, I am thankful that they hibernate in the winter. In the summer, I can’t get the mail without a 15 minute conversation. They’re friendly, but I like my privacy. Plus, I have a hard time understanding hillbilly accents. Why would anyone get a Fed Ex delivery every other day??? I’m nosy, yes…the other neighbors are rubbing off on me.
Emma has been using the potty!!! It’s amazing! I put her on the toilet and she goes, well every other time at least. She seems to young for this, but I’m happy!
Last Friday was Russian Winter’s Night, which was great as it always is….see pictures here.
Juliana has been sick, but doing better now. I hate winter birthday parties! She’s been drawing people lately, this is me. She’s been writing letters and trying to write words! She’s smart.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

I believe in government conspiracy. I have seen almost every episode of the X-files and although I don’t believe that little green men are invading the earth, I do believe that the American government is conspiring to turn us into zombies. This election was a turning point in American history. We are quickly losing our freedoms and our moral principles are being flushed down the toilet. Most people seem to be taking this well, but I’m really really REALLY mad!
850 Billion dollar stimulus package? Didn’t the liberals say Bush spent too much? I think he did. This so called “stimulus” package is really just a foot in the doorway to socialism. This list is great, but doesn’t mention the 136 Billion for new government programs.
What bothers me most is brainwashing kids. The Obama campaign did this well with the coloring pages and “talk to your grannie” or whatever they called it… Public schools are dangerous. I was very lucky to go to great schools, but nowadays schools are turning into political brainwashing stations. I think homeschooling is ideal! I’m looking into private schools, preferably Christian…but have decided to put it off another year, at least.
I think we all need to do our part to show our opposition. I think Citizens for Community Values and FreedomWorks.org are great and they make it so easy to email! I’ve been emailing almost everyday since inauguration day! One of my favorite books is Horton Hears a Who because of it’s great message: “A person’s a person no matter how small” and that one little voice was just enough to make the whole city heard.

Hannah, Emma, Juliana and Olivia in the city.

We went to a Chinese New Year celebration at the downtown library on Saturday and the girls learned tai chi, made crafts, and lots of fun activities. Juliana’s favorite part was learning tai chi. For pictures, click here.
Emma is sleeping in a big bed! She loves her new bed, and so do I because she is not waking up crying in the middle of the night anymore. Maybe the crib was uncomfortable, but really I think she wants to be big and do more things like Juliana. She is growing too fast. Juliana is too. She can write the letters “J” and “O”!!!
