We see his name everywhere in Cincinnati and can’t imagine what the city would be like without his donations!  Reading about his life really struck me because people seem to think the wealthy are greedy and should be taxed more to make things “fair,” while in reality the they do so much good like fund charities, libraries, schools, and of course employ us regular folks.

I enjoy this blog!  I have experimented with fermentation and found the first bite of my experiment really scary.  I thought I was eating moldy food, but I enjoy it now.  I need to learn more.  Ginger Ale is going to be my next experiment!

On a similar note, I am boiling beef neck bones today.  Sounds gross, looks gross, but will make the most delicious broth.  Yum!!!  I am using the last of last years beef to make way for my next one, which I pick up Saturday!

Juliana is moving along quickly with school.  We have been following the curriculum given by k12, except we do our own thing for art and music, and after assignments are finished we play and read. Yesterday while playing outside Juliana wanted to watch ice cubes melt, because in science we are learning about states of matter.  We also boiled water and watched it turn into water vapor.  I boiled water to cook for dinner….learning and everyday life go hand in hand!  We’ve been reading Mrs. Piggle Wiggle for fun, and later realized that one chapter was a days assignment, so we finished the book for fun.  That was eight days, one hour each of language arts done for fun!  We listen to The Story of the World on cd in the car nearly everyday, and there goes our history lessons.  This is all catching up to us and we are whizzing through assignments we have already completed as part of playtime.  Five hours of school down in one hour…I feel like we’re cheating.
